The New York Police Department (NYPD) has identified the off-duty officer that was killed attempting to stop today’s shooting in Midtown Manhattan, as 36-year-old Didarul Islam, an immigrant from Bangladesh and 4-year veteran of the NYPD. Officer Islam is survived by his wife, who is currently 8-months pregnant, and two children.
