BIOME LUMINA #343
Luminifera Nebulosa, meaning 'light-bearing mist,' is an ethereal bioluminescent plant endemic to tropical cloud forests. It features a slender stem 30-50 cm high with delicate, clustered flowers exhibiting whorled violet to deep indigo petals, emitting blue-green bioluminescence (420-490 nm). Leaves are fine, lace-like fronds with variegation, weighing 0-15 g. Bioluminescence arises from photoprotein complexes in petals via enzymatic oxidation, producing a cool nocturnal glow. Thriving in cool (0-15°C), moist, gently breezy cloud-covered habitats, it gently sways to aid spore dispersal. A member of the Nocturnalis Flora cluster, it relies on nocturnal moths and crepuscular insects for pollination, contributing to pollinator networks and the cloud forest’s mystical night ambience.
