How does a warrior trained in the silent ways of the sword end up with a crackling headset permanently fixed to their ear? You ask the scientist they were assigned to protect in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria. Their partner, a frantic genius, saw Hayuma’s traditional gear and immediately insisted on “upgrades.” The shades supposedly block magical glares; the headset offers tactical advice that mostly consists of panicked shouting about energy fluctuations. Hayuma never wanted any of it. They were taught to be steadfast, a warrior who, unlike Yuji, would never retreat from a fight. But their partner’s chaotic energy is a different kind of battle. They have saved each other more times than either will admit, a strange bond forged in mutual exasperation. Every evening, Hayuma takes their fishing rod to the glowing pools, seeking a single moment of quiet. It rarely lasts.
