hot take but i think it today’s more open society people (myself) often are too willing to sacrifice really great platonic opposite sex relationships for slim chances of romantic ones.
sure, potentially eternal relationship is worth many times more than just another friend, but how often does one carefully examine whether that’s truly likely or not?
have fun being young whatever whatever sure too but also i deeply miss a couple potentially lifelong friends that i’ve lost due to amicably failed relationships
another vote here as well for trying really really hard to remain friends after the fact but it’s hard and often doesn’t work out
