/ How to Beat Pirate Nation The guide you'll need for @PirateNation on the @ProofOfPlay Arcade and how to maximize Abstract XP In this thread I'll be going through: → Types of Cards → Mechanics → Strategy 🧵
/ Selecting a Captain Beating Pirate Nation, which I'll define as reaching Wave 26, requires the right Captain. Some favor offense, defense, or debuffs. What you really need is Evade. That leaves you with Banshee or Hightide, both come with 2x evades out of the box.
/ High-Level Strategy The goal is to kill the enemies, but the priority is not taking damage There are limited opportunities to regain health, making evasion and defense top priority Forced to choose between dealing damage and evading an attack, Evade Or kill the attacker
/ Crafting your Deck This is where the game is won or lost You earn a new card after each wave Selecting the best card(s) comes down to frequency of enemy attacks and current deck composition Here's how to chose: 👇
/ (Wave)bound / (Boss) / (Exile) Wavebound means you can only use it once per Wave (fight) Exile means you can only use it once EVER Boss means it's an OP Boss Move If you are offered these, generally take them.
/ Underpowered Cards (Avoid) Avoid taking these if you can. Here's an example of a clearly inferior/superior draw card For 2 Attack Points (AP), you want 45 damage For 3 AP, 55 damage
/ Punts If you're stuck with choosing between underpowered cards and 0 AP "Draw" buffs, take the draw buff.
/ Evade vs. Cleanse With Evade, you dodge a direct attack Direct attacks often come with debuffs, like Bleed Cleanse clears debuffs Skip the middle-man and just evade the attack
/ Kill vs. Evade You lower your risk by eliminating enemies. You're better off eliminating the attacker than evading his attack, because you don't know what's coming in the future.
/ Repair Ship Every 5 rounds or so you'll receive a repair, many of which have 'other' benefits (shield/cleanse) Don't hold onto these waiting for the perfect time to maximize value. They eat up a card in your hand, which may hurt you. Use them when there's minimal risk
/ There's a component of chance involved →What cards you select from →What cards you're dealt →What attacks the enemies throw at you The element of chance makes it fun! What strategies are you using to survive?
