It is rather strange that the UK has the largest democratically elected national lower chamber in the world. The Commons, with 650 members, is very large. All the more populous democracies - e.g. the US, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, India - have smaller lower chambers.

The EU Parliament is larger, but it's an international chamber.
