assuming anyone putting some size in crypto allocates at least 50% of their portfolio to one or several of these 4 coins, the most interesting question to answer becomes the allocation among them at a given time. my view on this has changed over the years. initially (<2022), i was on the camp of "just buy btc" because eth/sol correlations was so high anyways and eth/sol were just leveraged beta. after the merge, things changed and they each started to have their own narratives (eth l2s, bitcoin etfs, solana memecoins) so i shifted my positioning to be exposed to all of them given it's hard to time the market and these are all bluechips worth holding. but in 2025, after seeing the ethbtc swings over the last 2 years, i came to the same conclusion as buffet "diversification is a protection against ignorance." check ethbtc, soleth, hypeeth charts, they all have some very juicy swings on htfs. after a long period of underperformance, eth is now up 60% against hype in the last weeks and 2x against sol. imo for any serious narrative trader, it shouldn't be too difficult to pick 2 (or even one for the most brave) among the 4 that would be more likely to outperform at any given time. and imo, as of now, that would be clearly $eth and $hype, in that order.
