Although I have met Marwan Barghouti on several occasions, and he is one of the most recognizable Palestinian figures, I had no clue it was him in the clip released of his forced encounter with Israel's Minister of Terror Itamar Ben-Gvir. Barghouti has clearly been severely mistreated - to put it mildly - in Israel's prison system. One possibility is that Barghouti will be released as part of any upcoming Israeli-Palestinian agreement, and Ben-Gvir wants to disassociate himself from his release by way of his petulant outburst. Another is that Barghouti is going to be murdered in his prison cell, and Ben-Gvir is signalling his responsibility for this development to his supporters and constituents.
