A few days ago, I took the biggest Tokabu risk since we launched: I showed our world to my 10-year-old niece.
Kids don’t sugarcoat anything.
Their opinion is raw, immediate, and driven by pure feeling. I knew she wouldn’t lie to spare my feelings, which made it even scarier. I was about to get a very real answer to a question that’s been haunting me for a while:
🟡 Is Tokabu strong enough to catch the heart of someone who doesn’t care about gambling at all?
What if she said Tokabu was ugly? Weird in a bad way? Boring? What if everything we built didn’t click outside of crypto, or adults chasing luck?
It all felt apart. Because she loved it.
I showed her our pfp first. She smiled instantly.
“He’s funny,” she said. “Why is his leg like that?”
I told her Tokabu is a free spirit. He doesn’t walk straight. He doesn’t follow rules. He just feels his way through life. And that when something inside you says go left instead of right, that feeling in your gut, it might just be Tokabu, nudging you gently in the right direction.
Then I showed her the toy designs. She wanted all of them. Some memes, she laughed. Some other unreleased merch 👀, she lit up.
She didn’t understand the gamble, but she understood the spirit.
Because life doesn’t wait for you to be a grown-up to become confusing. Sometimes, even kids feel stuck between choices, overwhelmed by emotions, unsure of what comes next. And when I told her:
“Whenever you don’t know what to do, follow your instinct. Tokabu will keep an eye on you. And whatever happens, you’ll be okay.”
Something clicked in her. Like she felt protected. Seen.
That’s when I understood Tokabu really has no limit.
Because it’s not just a story about gambling.
It’s about Intuition. Feeling the spirit, believing without questioning.
Adults have slot machines, poker chips, scratch cards.
Kids have fear, doubt, and big emotions they can’t always explain. Both are trying to find their way.
The difference is, if a kid can feel Tokabu, then anyone can feel it too.
Funny ending to this story is that her dad, a forever skeptic, came to the table with three 5€ scratch cards and joked: "Let’s see if your Tokabu is real.”
We won €150.
I don’t think Tokabu makes you win.
But I do think he shows up right when you need him.
For kids. For adults. For anyone who’s ever felt lost, excited, scared, or ready.
Tokabu is real.
More than a meme, Tokabu is a brand.
More than a brand, Tokabu is a spirit.
And soon, he’ll be everywhere, not because we’ll force him there, but because he’s already there.
In all of us.
