Let's review: Hiring has stalled, manufacturing is bleeding jobs, core inflation is rising, and the average household is estimated to lose $3,800 a year to tariffs. Oh, and July's jobs report was disastrous—just 73,000 jobs added. Other than that, it's going amazing.

WATCH: Democrat Senator @JohnFetterman says @realDonaldTrump’s trade war is “going well,” admitting that his party got it wrong on the president’s trade policy.
Partisan outlets are addicted to hearing their points validated by someone on "the other side" but it's often meaningless. Fetterman seems nice, but he has no idea what he's talking about here. Being a Democrat who agrees with Trump doesn’t magically make him a trade expert.
This is yet another example of how so many *policy* debates have become vibes-based culture war conversations. Some people *feel* like the trade war is going well, so it must be so. That’s not how policy works. Actual outcomes are what matter.
