It’s time for beni free monthly alpha I sold one of my AI SAAS last week I signed an NDA so I can’t give specifics But I can give you the step by step guide on how I managed to hire top talent for a fraction of what competitors pay which ended up being our edge 1/x
I wrote a thread about finding ideas, working in different niches, cold outreach and so forth Today I want to talk about finding talent and optimizing that aspect of the business I think it’s crucial for any business, if your team is made of killers you’ll make a killing
Most people go the Fiverr/upwork freelancer route Nothing particularly wrong as long you accept that you’re overpaying or not getting top talent If a freelancer costs 8$ an hour and he’s genuinely talent he will get hired by US companies to work from abroad Or cost 80-100$
My favorite business quote is this one You want to become a Billionaire, you need to be a visionary and invent something You want to become a millionaire, you need to copy something that already works elsewhere
How do the absolute top companies hire talent? By harpooning them from the top schools right after they graduate with offers that a 22yo cannot refuse My thought was, how can I copy that for it to work for me The goal being optimizing cost/talent
What I ended up doing was making a list of good universities in 3rd world countries I made an excel with the emails of the professors in the fields that I needed talent from, in this case CS I had around 150 contacts total from 20 ish countries
I emailed them saying I am a young founder in Switzerland, I am looking to hire talent that is over overlooked because of where they’re from. I wanted to know if you had any second or third year students that are well above their peers and if I could contact them
Interestingly I only got a 59% reply rate, not sure why honestly but the replies I got where very good One in particular from a school in Jordan said that he had this girl in her second year of bachelor who was very very talented
I contacted her Said her professor recommended her Asked if she would be interested in a job during her studies I told her I would pay her based on the work she did, I told her a detailed description of everything I needed I offered 800$ for it Was quoted 11k by EU company
6 days later she gets back to me saying that she’s done Mind you she had to create UI/UX + backend infra etc Everything was done and it exceeded my expectations I paid her 900$ for it to thank her for the speed she delivered it and the quality of the job
She cried when I paid her on zoom She said it was more than her family was making a month I ended up hiring her on a 20h week contract for 800$ a month which was apparently 3x what she was offered domestically She was by far my greatest asset and she still works with me
I know I keep telling you guys to be creative if you want to beat the competition but it works Not only did I pay her but on her CV she can add that she worked for à Swiss company which she said will help her massively to get a masters in the US or EU Literally win win
One of my closest friend, @const_phoenixed told me that I was doing way too many things at once and, after thinking about it, figured he was absolutely right Hence I am delegating everything I’ve been working on last few months Now focused on 2 main projects and some trading here and there
Last alpha tip : Read contracts really well, ended up getting fucked by an investor during the sell You live and you learn, but make sure you read the fine print cause some people truly have no ethics out there…
