I just don’t think code is or was ever the best way to express ideas. When you work on a problem with a group of people you whiteboard. You sketch. You make lists. You draw arrows. You talk. You listen. You interact with other intelligences to form a common understanding of what needs do be done. Then an expert somehow jams all of that into an a document. Hands it off to someone who translates that into code. The code is explicit but still an imperfect representation of that common understanding. Imagine you could have an AI in the same room as the whiteboard. Listening and watching. If it were able to come to the same understanding.. it would not be necessary for a human to write any code. What we have now are flawed tools to transmit the understanding. But the entity we are transmitting to has become soooo much smarter in the last couple of years. Why are we still using the same tools?
