You’re basically saying: self-custody today = writing down a 12-word spell and praying you don’t lose it. But that’s a UX problem, not a fundamental flaw. People already manage email, Apple ID, Google passwords, etc. all of which are just access keys to critical accounts. Self-custody becomes just as manageable once the industry moves from plain-text seeds to encrypted backups + automated recovery flows (stored across multiple locations, recoverable without a centralized custodian). We don’t need banks for that - we need better tooling. Brick by brick, we’re getting there.

Self-custody is Bitcoin's worst meme. It's like insisting everyone should grow their own food. Noble idea. Terrible scaling solution. 99% of people will never manage private keys. And that's fine. Be okay with it. Bitcoin wins when banks have to compete with math, not when grandma learns Linux. Stop pretending otherwise.
