Critical consciousness is explicitly Marxist. It is not simply becoming aware of a problem & deciding to attempt to solve it (it is also not the same thing as using critical thinking—> reason & judgement). Critical consciousness is specifically about Marxist ideological indoctrination & activism, aiming towards collectivist ends. It is intertwined with themes of alienation, oppression, & awakening. It is spiritual & transcendently metaphysical, not diagnostic in a realist sense, where logic is employed to determine a problem & its solutions. Critical consciousness does not aim to solve a problem, it seeks to disrupt & dismantle. Understanding that Marxism employs the Hegelian dialectic, it’s not surprising that a reactionary movement would also entail critical conscientization of its target. Literally not surprising.

"The British people themselves seem to be gaining what amounts to a Critical Consciousness, and it's nice to see the vanguard of young people who are like 'this is fixable, and we're going to fix it." – Woke Right endless gift Carl Benjamin, Aug 13, 2025
