Wokeness has fundamentally changed the way I view religion. I’m still a non-believer, but I no longer feel any desire to de-convert others. My advocacy for atheism is now limited to raising awareness that not everyone believes in God, that it's okay not to believe, that you can be a good person without belief, and that atheism is not synonymous with hostility toward Christians or other religious people. I’m happy to discuss the empirical reasons for my non-belief with anyone who asks, but counter-apologetics is no longer a broader goal of mine. In some sense, I’m a non-believer who believes in belief—though I’d never promote belief myself. It’s an awkward position to be in, and I’ve considered writing something about it.
