The House of Commons’ petition debate on the repeal of the Online Safety Act was a bit of a joke. It was virtually entirely made up of supporters of the Act, justifying expansion of the censorship regime.
This is why I’ve worked to try to move that conversation to Washington.
It’s not just that UK politicians are hostile to the first amendment. They view it as a nuisance, something that needs to be destroyed online.
Nothing about what happened today changed my opinion on that front. If anything, it reinforced it.
At the end of the day, the constitutional rights of American citizens are not things which will be negotiated. There will be no accommodation. There will be no acceptance of infringements.
We will win, and the UK will lose.
