I rarely buy NFTs anymore, but let me explain the @nodemonkes thesis. For a meaningful provenance play to exist, multiple factors must align, and @nodemonkes by sheer luck/skill has it. 1. Never thought another meaningful provenance play could appear after @cryptopunksnfts. But with mental gymnastics the first original pfp on the first chain ever is a great competing narrative. First pfp on any new chain after ETH does not have a strong provenance play, imo. 2. The art has to be GREAT, have a unique style, good distribution of traits, and NOT a derivative. @nodemonkes miraculously managed to pull this off while STILL being the first. There are so many first collections on new chains, that have sub-par art, even if they are first it won't even matter. 3. Naturally, if both 1. and 2. exist, an excited community can form around and take it to the next level. What the @nodemonkes team have to do now is just to follow the punks playbook and promote the collection as art, emphasise it as the first original pfp collection on the first chain and the Nodes will forever be ingrained in our culture.
