The problem here is Carl is adopting the dialectic metaphysics of Marx. It's not just a critique Carl is accepting but the resentment driven, idealist worldview. Carl is choosing to worship the absolute unfolding through history. He's just choosing the absolute as affirmation rather than the absolute as negation of Marx. But either side of the kayfabe struggle leads to the same horseshoe-theory totalitarianism in the end. Since the worldview rejects transcendent truth, truth is determined by consensus. And the absolute moves until total inescapable consensus is achieved: a pit worshipers of the absolute cannot escape.
